I sent this email to all my racing friends at my college: Went to the Meadows last night around 11PM. It was jammed packed with all sorts of cars, some show, some go. Races galore; I'd estimate at the peak there must have been over 100 cars there. Something struck me as odd though, even when I showed up it appeared if people had been there a long time, so where were the cops? Hmmm, should have thought about that a bit sooner.
Not sure of the time, but as I was returning from a race, turning around behind the starting line, I saw everyone running towards their cars: cops! Didn't know where they were but I thought same old, same old; just get in your car and drive away. Not last night! Tried to get out on the exit going towards the Sunoco, but there were already two patrol cars turned sideways in the street. Uh oh! Tried getting out the entrance coming from 95 S when you go through the industrial part right to the track, that was blocked off also. SHIT!! One last attempt, tried to follow everyone to the end of the raceway, and get out there. Again, no dice. Blocked. Tried to pull into the garbage truck depo place to the right of the track, didn't find any way out there. DAMN IT! Caught. No where to go. Some bastard cop told me to pull over, turn off the car and put my keys on the hood. Took my license, registration, and insurance info. Forgot to give him my military ID, which was a mistake. He took his good old time writing me a ticket, and walked over to give it to me. By then I thought I'd see if he'd cut me some slack for being in the miliary, and he said in a sincere voice "Son, you should have told me that earlier. Its too late now." DAMN IT AGAIN! I could have gotten out of the ticket if I thought quicker. He had already written the ticket. SHIT! I got a ticket for illegal drag race spectating. Same ticket as racing. Actually a ticket for racing on the highway. $270 fine, 3 points, and if I don't go to court, they'll suspend my license. I made nice with the cop, and he told me that when I go to court I can plea it down to just the fine. No points, no suspension, and I can pay the fine in payments. Nice! (I suppose that's as good as it's gonna turn out.) Hmm, makes me wonder what ticket I would have got if I gave my military ID? Headlights out or something; wishful thinking eh?! So, needless to say, I won't be headed out this Sunday night. Making me suddenly $270 poorer, and the worry that my insurance will either drop me or raise my rates significantly makes me not the racer I use to be. LOL! But then again, my dumb ass will be out racing in a couple weeks when this blows over. ;) Don't call me, I'll call you. I'll let you know how court goes. Hehe, until court, I've got my ticket framed. Badge of dumbass honor, huh? LOL Rob
